Divine Intervention

Was it a coincidence?  I think not.  The other night, Hans and I put the kids to bed at 8pm as usual.  Every night after we put them to bed, we go relax and do whatever.  We usually never check back on them until we are ready to go to bed at around 11pm.  However, for some reason, that night, Hans decided to go check to see if the kids had fallen to sleep yet.  He first checked on Gabe, and sure enough, he was fast asleep.  Then, it was Eva's turn.  He looked in her room and saw her moving.  He asked "Eva, are you still awake?"  She looked at him with watering eyes and her mouth open.  She was chocking.  Hans immediately pulled her out of bed and gave her the Heimlich.  She eventually threw up what she was chocking on.  It turns out that new CTR ring can be a chocking hazard for five year olds.

I have to say how grateful I am for divine intervention.  This could have turned out to be a very bad situation.  It scares me to think what could have been if Hans wasn't at the right place at the right time.  I know this was Heavenly Father's hand prompting Hans to check on the kids.  Even if Hans may not have felt a strong, direct feeling to go check on the kids, it was still something that made him get up and look to see if the kids were sleeping.  I'm also grateful I have a husband who knows what to do in that kind of situation.  That he didn't hesitate and that he had the skills to save her from chocking.  I am so blessed to have a wonderful, happy, healthy little family.  Life is precious and we should cherish every minute we have with our children.

What a blessing Linds! I can hardly type through the tears. What a blessing that Hans listened and knew what to do! The spirit often starts with a whisper... a thought... a feeling. Then, if he needs to he can get quite loud, but thankfully, a quiet nudge was all Hans needed. Hug them both for me. Love you

Whew! Good thing Hans has the skills to both listen to the spirit and do the heimlich. Thanks for sharing!

So grateful for wonderful blessings like this! What a scary thing to have happen -- for all of you! It's good you wrote this experience down. You'll remember it and be able to reflect on the power of the spirit when needed! Glad it all turned out well!

I had no idea this had happened until I just read it. Oh my goodness. I'm so grateful, too, for Hans' actions. I can't even think about the pain again had you (and all of us, really) lost Eva. I don't even know what to say except I don't tell you or our grandchildren enough how cherished you all are.

That is terrifying. I've had a similar situation where my baby was suffocating under a blanket, and only because of the spirit did I check on him. I'm so glad Hans was able to rescue her and Eva is ok.

Linds I am so glad she is ok. It's amazing how the spirit prompts us to do things we don't normally do like in your situation. kiss little Eva for me!

So grateful for the Divine Intervention Hans had and for him knowing what to do. He could have just thought to not disturb her, but instead he talked to her and realized she needed help. I'm glad he did what was needed to save her. I still need to meet my sweet niece Eva. Please give all your children a huge hug from me. Miss you guys.
I guess there will be no CTR rings in your house. I don't know one child that can ever keep their CTR ring longer than a week, ask Jason where his ring went as a child.

As I checked your blog for Christmas pictures I read about this terrifying happening, thankfully our sweet litle Eva is OK. It is a blessing, and thanks to God that Hans was there at the right time. Give Eva and all our loving granchildren a big hug and kiss from Oma and Opa.

Oh my sweet Eva! I am so glad she is alright. Robert and I always check on the kids before we go to bed as well, but it's usually well after we think they are asleep. I miss you guys! Maybe someday divine intervention will put us on the same path again :)
